Evoking the work of the composer Henri Pousseur feels quite like travelling across a century of contemporary musical adventure with ears and eyes wide open, discovering unlikely links between pernickety writing and audible architecture, instrumental quintessence and electroacoustic experience. |

On December 5, the music world lost one of its biggest contributors of the last fifty years. A visionary composer, Karl-Heinz Stockhausen was one of the very first to understand the creative importance of electronic sound in 20th century contemporary music. He used electronics in his compositions often exceptionally and sometimes riskily: but he was always ahead of his time. |

There are few labels as eclectics as Staubgold. And only few of them let their mentor’s personality appear so clearly in the artistic choices. Staubgold, which has been founded in 1998 in Köln and moved to Berlin in 2002, is a real piece of work of its own, and more precisely, Markus Detmer’s one. This activist musician became manager of one of the most singular label of the last decade thanks to his experiences but also thanks to his risk-taking.

Acapulco; 1968; tequila; corn; kidney beans; Pancho Villa; Zapata; Chiapas’ Indians; sub-commander Marcos – duly hooded… More recently the Oaxaca’s commune… And the more well-read people won’t forget the last Mohicans in a world which is becoming more and more frivolous, Octavio Paz and Carlos Fuentes... |

This Mexican artist, whose real name is Fernando Corona, was awarded with a Qwartz during the second edition of the Qwartz Music Awards-his subtile and intimist music has charmed a very demanding audience. His music is halfway between electro-acoustic and radical electronica and contains a fusion of discrete melodies - piano, stringed-instruments – and a tangle of textures, rythmics and electronic sounds –clicks, cuts, etc. Murcof & Enrique (Static Discos) @ Qwartz |
